Welcome

Our club’s aim is to foster an interest in and the enjoyment of photography.  We do this through competitions, workshops, lectures, outings and meetings with other camera clubs.

Our members are all keen amateur photographers. Their photographic interests may vary – landscape, portraiture, sporting, abstract, etc.,  but they all share a passion for capturing great images, improving their skills and techniques and sharing their knowledge and experiences with other members.  Some examples of our members’ recent photos appear on this page.

MACPP OPENS – 13 DECEMBER 2019

The 2020 MACPP competition portal will open for entries at 10 AM AEDT on 13 December 2019

This is the second MACPP following its very successful introduction in 2019 – a very special photographic Prize, unlike any previously seen in Australia, the opportunity for Conceptual photographers to be recognised as the best in Australia – and to win significant prize money.

Entries Open 13th December 2019 10AM AEDT TOMORROW

The name of the Prize has been changed to the Mullins Australian Conceptual Photography Prize, in permanent memory of Doug and Barbara Mullins. The availability of a bequest in their names will ensure the long-term future of the MACPP.

The MACPP is acquisitive; meaning the printed winning framed artwork that is awarded the MACPP Prize will immediately become the property of Magnet Galleries, which has partnered with the APS.

The winner of the 2020 MACPP will again be awarded $8,000 cash. The winner of the best entry by an APS Member will receive $2,000 cash. If the winner of the 2020 is an APS Member then that entrant will receive both cash amounts – totaling$10,000

An Emergent Designs voucher valued at $1,000 will be awarded to another finalist selected by the three judges (who will be announced very soon). The winners will be announced on Thursday 9 July 2020 at the 6.30 PM AEST opening of the exhibition of the finalists’ prints at Magnet Galleries’ Melbourne Docklands Gallery. |

Each entry must be a still work that has been substantially produced by photographic means, including analogue and digital photography, collage and mixed media. Each entry must be accompanied by an Artist’s Concept Statement of no more than 100 words. Each entry must not have been previously selected as a finalist in a Prize or exhibited at a major public institution. Entries must have been created in the twelve months preceding the closing date for entries (1 May 2020).

RIDGEWOOD CAMERA CLUB
2020 INTERNATIONAL PHOTO EXHIBITION

Dear Fellow Photographers:

The Ridgewood Camera Club of Ridgewood, New Jersey, USA, is now accepting entries for our 37th Ridgewood International Exhibition and would like to invite you and the members of your Camera Club to participate. The Photographic Society of America, Projected Image and Nature Division (PSA 2020-059), recognize the Ridgewood International Exhibition.  The Exhibition is open to all – you do not need to be a PSA member to enter. A panel of three judges will score the images entered and participants may earn “Acceptances”.

Acceptances are often seen as photography boasting rights. They can also count toward Star Ratings and other PSA distinctions. The Ridgewood International brings together individuals who have a mutual interest and love of photography. We may all speak different languages, but we do have one language in common, that is the “Language of Photography”. This year, we are again inviting photographers worldwide to take part and enter their best images to the Exhibition.  We cannot contact all of your members personally; therefore, we are asking you, through your organization, to forward our invitation and make your members aware of the Exhibition.

There are four sections:

  • Projected Image Digital – Color
  • Projected Image Digital – Monochrome
  • Nature Digital
  • Nature Digital – Wildlife

All of the information about the Ridgewood International is posted on the Ridgewood Camera Club website www.ridgewoodcameraclub.net. There you will see International Exhibition on the left side drop down box, where you can see all of the information including the Entry rules, the Entry Form and the fees.Thank you for your attention and we look forward to having your members participate.

Sincerely yours,

B. Alex Bahtiarian

HHCC – Selecting a previous photo online for the competition

Hi All,

A few people are having issues using the “select from a previously uploaded photo” feature of the competition page.

When you select the “select from existing uploaded images” button you will get the list screen with all of your previous photos. You need to click on the actual thumbnail of the image you want to use on the far left side, not the name of the photo next to it (which is a different function).

The image will open and at the top of the window is a button which says “enter this image in photo and projected image of the year”.

Once selected you will then be taken to the submission screen where you can select the category as usual.

Cheers

Dave

HHCC – Photo of the Year

Hi Members,

Just a reminder that our final competition of 2019 for “Photo of the Year” is scheduled for next Tuesday 19th November. Remember that photo selection will close this Sunday evening at 5pm. For this competition you can select from any photo that has been entered in a previous competition during the year. Follow the instructions in the competition to review your previous photos and select the ones you want to enter.

Additionally, this will also be the club Christmas party. We would be grateful if you could bring a plate of food to share together after the awards ceremony.

Best,

Dave

HHCC – 2019 AGM

Notice of Annual General Meeting 2019

The club’s AGM (Annual General Meeting) will take place on Tuesday, 3rd December 2019 at 7.30pm, at Mt Colah Community Hall.  We hope that all Financial Members will be able to attend; any apologies can be sent to the secretary – secretaryhornsbyheightscameraclub@outlook.com

This will be our last official meeting for 2019 and will close off another great year in the club.  The AGM is an ideal time to find out what’s happening next year and enables you to provide input or feedback to the club and its members.

At the AGM there is an election of the Club officers and committee members. All current positions become vacant on the night and any financial member is welcome to submit a nomination for any role they are interested in. All positions are voluntary so if you are interested please submit a nomination form (attached) to the secretary, secretaryhornsbyheightscameraclub@outlook.com at least 7 days before the AGM.  Attached is also a summary of the Roles and Responsibilities.  All and any help is always very much appreciated.

We are looking for a volunteer in 2020 to be in charge of the refreshments which means the Coffee/Tea/Supper set up and looking after the supper crate. Please let the secretary know before the meeting if you can help.  All help is really appreciated by the committee and its members.

We are putting together a great programme for 2020 with several social outings where you can learn technical skills etc., and we will be introducing a new 1 day Photo Challenge with Pennant Hills Photographic Club which will be revealed at the AGM.  If you would like to help co-ordinate a social outing next year please let the Events Co-ordinator know.

Please print off and bring a copy of the attached documents for your reference at the AGM

1.         2019 AGM Agenda
2.         2018 Minutes
3.         President’s Report
4.         Treasurer’s Report – Audited accounts 2018, Unaudited 2019 accounts and Budget for 2020
