Welcome

Our club’s aim is to foster an interest in and the enjoyment of photography.  We do this through competitions, workshops, lectures, outings and meetings with other camera clubs.

Our members are all keen amateur photographers. Their photographic interests may vary – landscape, portraiture, sporting, abstract, etc.,  but they all share a passion for capturing great images, improving their skills and techniques and sharing their knowledge and experiences with other members.  Some examples of our members’ recent photos appear on this page.

Don’t forget to pay your fees by Wednesday 10th February!

If you are returning to the club this year and intending to take part in our monthly competition on 16th February, then we pretty much need you fees now.

This gives time for banks to clear money and the necessary behind the scenes stuff to happen to make sure that you can enter in a timely fashion. We need to remember that we are a club of volunteers and we can’t always make magic happen with deadlines when people ask us too.

If you do miss the deadline, it’s not the end of the world. You just enter in March instead of February.

Below are the necessary details from a previous email that you need to know to pay your fees.

In recognition of the disruption of the HHCC club nights during 2020 due to COVID, for all HHCC members who were members in 2020, there will be a reduction in fees for 2021 to $65.

Fees for members who were not members in 2020 remain at the regular level of $75.  Electronic Funds Transfer (this is the preferred method of payment)

Account Name:     HHCC

BSB:                     062 013

Account Number   0090 2723

Reference:            Please use your name as reference.

Hope to see you at the club soon,

Tom

AGM and Christmas

Don’t forget that the Annual General Meeting is next Tuesday Night (1st December) at 7:30pm at the Mt Colah Community Centre.

It’ll be great to see you there. If you can’t make please let me know.

Unfortunately, due to Covid 19 we will not be able to hold our usual Christmas Supper after the AGM. It’s been a crazy year and the committee has decided that – for our purposes at least – we will be skipping Christmas.

Hopefully next year will be better.

Regards,

Tom

HHCC Photo Rally – 24th October, 2020.

Dear members,

It is time to dust off those cameras and join us for this year’s PHOTO RALLY.For our new members, Photo Rally is a fun, relaxed competition we run annually. It’s an opportunity to get out and about with your fellow photogs to shoot a series of set subjects in a designated location.

Date -Saturday 24th Oct – Sunday 8th Nov, with a meetup organised for Sat 24th at “The Vintage Pantry Cafe”  (Outdoor area) in Galston.

Those wishing to meetup, will need to RSVP Elaine ASAP so we can book a table as tables are booking fast. (Due to COVID restrictions, for the number of members attending, tables must be booked) so please don’t delay or you risk missing out.

Location and set subjects – To consider our more vulnerable members during these times we are keeping it local this year by including the whole of Hornsby Shire. The set subjects are also taking into account those who don’t feel comfortable venturing far. Flora and Fauna for eg can be in one’s own backyard.Choose a colour or open could be the opportunity to try some still life perhaps. Most importantly, we want to allow everyone to participate where possible.

Judging -You will be the judge – All members will be encouraged to judge the entries online, even if you don’t participate. Members will have from Monday 9th November – Saturday 14th November 9pm (6 days only) to vote. Voting will close at the same time as entries for the November comp closes. Making it easy to do both voting and entering of your POTY images at the same time perhaps, however; we strongly encourage you not to leave it to the last minute or you risk running out of time.

Entries will then be displayed and winners announced at our “November Photo of the Year evening November 17th.

We hope you will join us on Saturday 24th but if not you will have until Sunday 8th November to shoot the rally. Importantly – All images must be taken during this period to qualify.

We look forward to seeing what you capture.
Regards, Sonia and Elaine

September News

G’day all,

Join us next week (29th September) from 7:30pm for our September Workshop on landscape photography with Tim Moon. This will be an online presentation and a Zoom link will be sent out later, as well as being posted here.

Next month sees a planned return to the Mt Colah Community Centre for out meetings. There are a few things that we need to consider with our return. Please read the attached pdf for our Covid plan. We do want attendees to wear a mask and please remember that we are doing this for others, not ourselves. Unfortunately, we may also need to restrict visitors to our club nights as well.

As we return, our competition returns to normal as well. We have our usual four categories: Monochrome, Colour Prints, Digitally Projected Images and Mini Prints.

You may enter up to six images in total but only three in one category.

The competition is now open to enter on our website.

Coming up in November is our final round of the year, “Photo of the Year”. As we haven’t had our normal categories throughout the year, we have a few some guidelines to help.

1.  Mini Prints or Digital Minis can be entered into Mini Prints
2.  Colour Prints or digital Colour can be entered into Colour Prints
3.  Mono Prints or Mono Digitial can be entered into Mono Prints
4.  Any print submitted digitally can be entered into the Digital.

The normal entry limits apply.

Please be aware that the situation in the world is changing one way and then another quickly and our plans may not be able to be carried out.

Before I finish, I would like to thank the committee for their fantastic work behind the scenes as they deal with council, organise judges, collate images and keep members up to date with emails and posts. Don’t forget to thank them when you see them.

I hope to see you next week.

Tom
