HHCC – Australia Cup Competition
Hi All,
Hornsby Heights entered this competition a little while back. We thought members may want to attend the meeting where the winners will be announced. Details below…
The judging for the 2020 Australian Cup has been finalized and the committee is ready to announce the winners! You and your club members are invited to attend a special awards night via ZOOM on Friday 24th July 7pm EST to be there when we unveil the 2020 Australian Cup winner along with all the other awards. The battle was fierce this year and the judges had a difficult task in choosing the winners and you’ll see those top images during night.
When Friday Jul 24, 2020 at 6.45pm for a 7pm EST startIt is suggested that you register and download the (small) zoom install prior to the start of the meeting.
You will need Speakers and a microphone.
Ones built into your laptop will be ok if you have a quiet place to do the session but headsets with a mic will be better.
Zoom works on Windows or Mac, and can also work on tablet or mobile phone (with the zoom app installed).
Zoom Registration and Install
*For security purposes please ensure you use the correct link to visit the Zoom website when you register. https://www.zoom.us/
(A number of fake sites have sprung up due to Zoom’s increased popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, these sites can pose a security threat to your computer)
Invitation
You are invited to a Zoom meeting.
When: Jul 24, 2020 07:00 PM Brisbane (EST)
Register in advance for this meeting:
https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEkd-irrDMtEtHbFLVCWzyF1LXs2bgcUitE
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
During the Meeting
Use the MUTE button throughout the meeting. When you want to say something to the group(ask questions), PRESS THE SPACEBAR while you speak. When you release the spacebar, it will mute again. (Using the mute button in the Zoom video window).
This is important so that noise…phone calls, background noise, mic feedback…doesn’t distract the speaker.
We look forward to SEEING you on the 24th!

HHCC – Fun Competition Scoring
Hi Everyone,
The fun competition for June is closed and now ready for scoring by our members. For some of our fun competitions we are now using the new member self scoring facility. Each member can score each photo that has been submitted.
To access this go into the member competition page and you will see the competition with a blue button and a star. Click this to get started. You will find instructions on how to score in this page. Remember that you need to score every photo and the system will keep track of this so you don’t have to do them all in one go.
The competition will be open for scoring for the next 2 weeks. Have fun.
Best,
Dave

HHCC – June Fun Comp
Hi All,
There was a slight configuration issue with our fun competition for June which is allowing people to load more than 1 image per section. If you could please restrict the number of photos to 1 in each section that would be appreciated. You’ll all get a chance to judge other members photos at the end of the month as per Tom’s recent note.
Thanks,
Dave

HHCC – Competition Rules Reminder
Hi Members,
We wanted to provide a quick reminder of a one specific submission rule around competitions. This relates to the maximum number of pictures in each category. At present submissions are restricted to a total of 3 images overall in a competition with a maximum of 2 images in any one category – Digital Colour, Mono, Digital Small Print, etc.
Unfortunately, the website does not restrict this in situations where we have a competition that includes both set subject and open images. As such you’ll need to remember how many images you are uploading in each category if you want to submit in both set subject and open.
We look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday online!

HHCC – Critique Corner and Comments
Hi Members,
We hope everyone is staying safe and sound during the current restrictions. We have enjoyed seeing everyone online at our club events and as Tom mentioned in his post the turnout has been very good.
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to a new function which has been added to the Club website recently called Critique Corner. Quite simply, Critique Corner enables you to submit a photo online for review and assistance by other members in our club. This is a good way of enabling constructive feedback by others on your images which you may want to enter into a competition or simply see how it might be improved.
You may have seen me submit a photo last month using this function, and I received many helpful and thoughtful tips on how I could improve the image. Thanks again to all of you who commented. The collective knowledge in the club is something worth tapping in to!
The function is available within the Members menu option on the right side of the home page after you have logged in. You’ll see the blue Critique Corner button towards the top of the screen. In the following screen select the green button to the right to add or amend entries. When you upload a photo it is worth adding some text to indicate what sort of help you would like with the photo.
Note that Critique Corner is independent of any of our competitions. When someone comments you’ll receive an email notification.
Also, it is important to help others too so I would encourage you to login and where possible provide others with feedback requested on their images. This is how everyone improves their photography. For those of you not aware, you can also comment on photos in our competitions once they have been published so I would encourage members to have a go at this too!
Best,
Dave

HHCC – Passing of Ian Wall
It is with sadness that we inform members of HHCC of the recent passing of former club member Ian Wall. Ian was a member of HHCC for many years but unfortunately his poor health made it difficult for him to fully participate.
Ian was quiet, but always had a positive and friendly word for you, and was always willing to help out wherever he could. He had a creative mind and enjoyed his photography – from wildlife to the quirky. We send our sympathy and condolences to Sandy and his family.
