Welcome

Our club’s aim is to foster an interest in and the enjoyment of photography.  We do this through competitions, workshops, lectures, outings and meetings with other camera clubs.

Our members are all keen amateur photographers. Their photographic interests may vary – landscape, portraiture, sporting, abstract, etc.,  but they all share a passion for capturing great images, improving their skills and techniques and sharing their knowledge and experiences with other members.  Some examples of our members’ recent photos appear on this page.

Competition – Open Our judge is Shane Clarkson

Shane Clarkson – Photography Biography

Shane Clarkson bought his first DSLR at the end of 2008 to take better photos of his children playing sport; a point and shoot camera with a one second shutter lag wasn’t cutting it.

Since his initial foray into sports-photography he has explored many directions without settling into any niche. He is restless in his photographic interests and likes to try new genres and techniques but does keep returning to in-camera creative, studio lighting and seascapes. While he is a competent user of Photoshop, he has a strong preference for doing things in camera wherever possible.

He has been an active member of camera clubs since 2014, participating in club competitions, club exhibitions, and running workshops and training. He joined Northside Creative Photography in 2016 and has been club President since 2021. His formal qualifications include a Diploma of Photography and Photographic Imaging from Hornsby TAFE.
