Welcome

Our club’s aim is to foster an interest in and the enjoyment of photography.  We do this through competitions, workshops, lectures, outings and meetings with other camera clubs.

Our members are all keen amateur photographers. Their photographic interests may vary – landscape, portraiture, sporting, abstract, etc.,  but they all share a passion for capturing great images, improving their skills and techniques and sharing their knowledge and experiences with other members.  Some examples of our members’ recent photos appear on this page.

HHCC – New Website Functionality

Hi All,

There have been a few functional updates to the website which I wanted to tell you about and which were just announced.

Image Selection for Competitions:

The main news is the introduction of the Image Viewing Page for individuals and the capability to select an existing image for entry.  This allows you to select an image you have already uploaded from a previous competition that you would like to re-enter. The capability to select an existing image is now built into the entry form.  It is accessed from the entry form using the green button shown below.

This button takes you to the Image Viewing page with clear indication that it is in “selection  mode”. Selecting a thumbnail will show the Commenting Page and has a red button to select that image.

Selecting the image takes you back to the entry form and the selected entry looks the same as if it just uploaded the entry.

Remember: You can only re-enter an image which has not previously received an award. The only exception to this is the “Photo of the Year” competition.  An option will be provided to use with Image of the Year competitions so that only previously uploaded images can be entered.

Photo Comments Page:
It is now possible to respond to comments that other members have left for a photo. When you receive an email for a comment which has been left for an image there is now a link included in the email to get back to the page to allow you to respond.

Best,

Dave

HHCC – Nature Photography Presentation

Firstly, a very big thank you to Marion for hosting the nature competition evening and providing all of the input and critiquing on the large number of entries – 88 in total!

And also – thank you to all our members for providing all of the entries and having a go. There was a lovely selection of images. Photography is, as ever, a constant learning exercise. Hopefully the inputs you all received will be helpful in the event you would like to pursue Nature Photography further. It also important to remember that the comments provided are a simply a reflection of what judges will look for in images submitted within nature and wildlife competitions.

The important thing to do as Marion pointed out is simply to keep “having a go”. You can access Marion’s excellent presentation here.

HHCC – NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY PRESENTATION and COMPETITION 30th APRIL

Hi Members,

This will be a night for you to see a presentation on nature photography TTT (tips, trials and tribulations) given by Marion Anstis, and also to test out your nature photography in a friendly competition which doesn’t count to the year’s point score tally, so no stress involved! The club is hoping to encourage you to submit up to 6 digital only nature images keeping the nature regulations in mind (see below), and have some feedback on them from Marion, with a view to encouraging our club members to enter into future interclub nature competitions, for which we can only enter two images per person. There is a link below to the competition regulations for wildlife and nature.

So please head out into your garden or local park, pond area, beach, zoo etc. and try to get some entries in before the 30thApril. Looking forward to seeing you then!
