Welcome

Our club’s aim is to foster an interest in and the enjoyment of photography.  We do this through competitions, workshops, lectures, outings and meetings with other camera clubs.

Our members are all keen amateur photographers. Their photographic interests may vary – landscape, portraiture, sporting, abstract, etc.,  but they all share a passion for capturing great images, improving their skills and techniques and sharing their knowledge and experiences with other members.  Some examples of our members’ recent photos appear on this page.

HHCC – Lake Illawarra November Weekend Outing – Date Change

Hi Members,

Just to advise that the club outing to Lake Illawarra has changed from the originally published date as listed on our website. The new dates are Friday 26th Nov – Sunday 28th Nov. As a reminder members are responsible for their own accommodation if they are attending.

Also of note is that tickets for the airshow – Wings Over Illawarra, are now on sale. A ticket is usable on either day. If you are planning on attending this event please send a note to David Curtis so we can understand numbers and potentially car pooling opportunities.

Thanks!

HHCC – Hawkesbury River Photography Comp

Hi Members,

There is an interesting local Hawkesbury River area photo competition which is open for the next few weeks. You’ll find the details here.

by David Curtis, October 2, 2021

Here is some news.

The good news is that we have a plan to return to face to face meetings in November. Our October meeting will still be online and our judge will be Peta Ward.

When we return, there will be some rules that we need to follow for Hornsby Council to allow us to hire the hall.

Rule 1: Attendees must be double vaxed and will need to show a certificate of proof.

Rule 2: Everyone needs to sign in using the QR code. We will need everyone to come just a little early so that we can check these things.

Rule 3: Everyone needs to wear masks.

Rule 4: We need to wipe down a lot of stuff. We will need some people to volunteer to help us with that.

Rule 5: We can’t dilly dally when the meeting is over. (Actually, I’m not sure if that’s a council rule or not, I was told to tell people that we can’t dilly dally outside after the meeting.)

Please remember that these are Council rules and part of our condition of hire for November only. We need to follow them. Please let me know if you will be unable to attend as we may be able to set up a video link via Zoom.

Photo of the Year Competition

November is our annual Photo of the Year Competition. In this competition we re-enter images from the current year to see who will grab the top spot.

When submitting your images, please remember that they must be submitted in the same category again, there is no switching between categories. We have maintained our categories of Colour Prints, Mono Prints, Small Prints and Digitally Projected Images throughout the year so hopefully there should be no confusion.

The Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on 30th November at 7:30 at the Mount Colah Community Centre. There will be a presentation as well but the Christmas Party element will be postponed to an event later, in the new year. Please come to the AGM if you are able with the restrictions. It is your club and it is a good opportunity to hear what is planned.

I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

HHCC – Interclub Competition Tonight!

Dear Member’s

We encourage all members to join us on ZOOM tonight in support of your club for our annual Interclub competition with Pittwater Photography Club. Link details are below.

Unfortunately last year this event was canceled so we are even more excited to be meeting with Pittwater this year. We are excited to have Ian and Diane English as our judges for this special event, although we believe Ian will be doing the majority of the judging.

Ian and Dianne are both accomplished photographers have entered many National and International Photographic Salons with much success. Ian recently acquired the EFIAP/g international honours as well as GMAPS (Grand Master Australian Photographic Society) and Dianne has attained the EFIAP and PPSA honours.  They have each won multiple medals and awards both nationally and internationally.

We haven’t had the privilege of Ian or Diane judge for us before so we are very excited to have them join us.
