Welcome

Our club’s aim is to foster an interest in and the enjoyment of photography.  We do this through competitions, workshops, lectures, outings and meetings with other camera clubs.

Our members are all keen amateur photographers. Their photographic interests may vary – landscape, portraiture, sporting, abstract, etc.,  but they all share a passion for capturing great images, improving their skills and techniques and sharing their knowledge and experiences with other members.  Some examples of our members’ recent photos appear on this page.

HHCC – 2021 Photo Rally

Hi everyone,

5th June 2021 Photo Rally

It’s that time of Year again and we are heading to Cockatoo Island where there are some amazing photo opportunities!  Details are attached, see our flyer.   The brief will be given out on Saturday morning when we meet, but for those that can’t make it there will be an email sent out as well, after 11 a.m.

It is important that anyone attending send an email with their phone number just in case any details change, to  secretaryhornsbyheightscameraclub@outlook.com or you can text or call so that I know who is coming.

The flyer for the event is here.

See you on Saturday.

HHCC – Lake Illawarra Weekend Away

Hi Members,

We will be having our annual Camera Club weekend away for 2021 from Friday 12th – Sunday 14th November. The location will be the Lake Illawarra region, South of Wollongong. The event has been timed to coincide with the rescheduled Wings Over Illawarra Air Show which occurs over the same weekend.

The weekend event is always a great opportunity for members to get to know each other and to practice a range of photography – long exposure, high speed shutter, landscape and others!

Please note that members are responsible for booking their own accommodation and tickets (if you are planning on attending the air show). If you are planning on attending it is advisable that you organise your accommodation sooner rather than later. The popularity of the air show and fact that COVID has more people travelling locally, things tend to get booked up quickly!

From past experience good accommodation options are available in and around Kiama which is close to the events/locations we will look to attend.

If you are planning on attending or have any questions please send a note to Dave Curtis who is the organiser – dsacurtis@gmail.com. More details will be sent closer to the time.

Click here for the flyer which has all the details.

Thanks!

Changes Are Afoot

G’day all,

At the last committee meeting we made some changes to how we run our competition.

Many of us have joined the camera club to meet and talk to other photographers but we have found that this is just not happening. Every month, we have over 110 entries and realistically 120 minutes for judging and feedback and no time for anything else. Quite often people are still talking on the street up to half an hour after we have closed the door on the hall.

Starting with the June competition night we will have a minimum of 15 minutes to catch up with others. It doesn’t sound like much but it is more than we have now.

So that we can make this happen, from the June competition we are reducing the number of entries per person to four. You may enter up to two images in one category.

Hopefully, this will give us more time to catch up and swap ideas.

We will also be reintroducing tea and coffee during the break. We’ll bring the tea, coffee, milk and sugar but you will need to bring your own mug.

Don’t forget that we have the Photo Rally coming up on 5th June. More details are yet to come. In previous years this has been a fantastic event, producing great times and fine images. We hope to see you there.

As one of my photographic heroes says, ‘You keep shooting.’
